In order to answer these questions correctly you need to understand the basics of:
cardinals ( 1, 2, 3, etc. ) ordinals ( 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. ) fractions ( ¼, ½, ¾, etc. ) partitives ( a bunch of, a pile of, a flock of, etc. ) approximations ( many, several, about, almost, etc. ) time expressions ( in the 20's, 245 B.C., etc.) How much?
2 kilos, ¾ ounce, $50, 5%, almost one pound, ½lb, etc.
How many?
46, several, a whole bunch of them, thousands, etc.
How old?
97, 2½, too old, 600 years old, etc.
What size?
7½, 41, 2" by 2", four square miles, extra large, etc.
When?
Today, four hours ago, in 1876, around 400 BC, in the 2nd century, etc.
