What is a verb?
Verbs are words that describe an action or state a fact. Together with nouns (man, table, hope, etc.), verbs make up the basics of a sentence.
Jane (noun) runs (verb) along the beach every day after work
A matter of time and circumstance
To state basic facts, you generally use simple verb forms:
My son walks (runs, flies, goes by taxi, etc.) to work To describe an action, you need to be very time specific and you need to be able to provide details:
If I hadn't been busy painting the house, I would have gone to the party yesterday
