If I ruled the world
"If I ruled the world I’d immediately introduce a "driving licence" for politicians. To drive a car, we’ve decided there are some things we need to know, because driving a car is dangerous. Power is also dangerous, and there are some basic rules a politician needs to know." Kjell A. Nordstrøm, assistant professor at the Stockholm School of Economics, in an interview published in "Scanorama"
Tasks:
Write two different short compositions entitled "If I ruled the world…" In one of them, you should explain a number of important things you seriously think you would like to do something about if you had a great deal of political power. In the other, you should adopt a humorous style, and list unimportant but irritating things you would like to change.
Discussion: What would you say are the basic rules a politician needs to know?
Discussion: Do you think there are other professions where we need a sort of "driving licence"? Explain why.
