| 6 | The Language Learning Processes

Learning English is much easier if you know where to begin. Understanding the language learning processes is your best start.

The language learning processes can be divided into
three steps:

punkt input
punkt throughput
punkt output

1.  Input ...

is everything you read and hear wherever you are
- in class, in your study, at the cinema, listening to music.

If your input is too easy, you lose interest. If
your input is too difficult, you also lose interest.

Lesson to learn:

punkt In active language learning the choice of input is important.
You must have the right materials.

2.  Throughput ...

is the way the input is processed in your brain. Well, in other words
- your active work trying to learn. Your working routines
and your way of learning are important.

Lessons to learn:

punkt You must develop your working routines
punkt You must develop your learning strategies

3.  Output ...

is the result of input and throughput.
In other words - how well you understand English
and how well you can express yourself in English.
That is what we call communicative skills (competence).

And, those skills are your goals!

Lessons to learn:

punkt Make sure you know the meaning of communicative skills
punkt Make sure you understand what your target level is

There are three more goals to keep in mind.
You will find them at the bottom of the chart below.
